The body governing football in the world announced over the week the host nations for the World Cup which will take place in 2026. History will be made at the event as it will be the first time three countries will host the World Cup and for the first time, 48 teams will participate in the tournament.

This was the first time that the Men’s senior World cup will be hosted in Africa and it is still regarded as one of the most colourful in the history of the World Cup. A total of 3.2 million supporters came to watch the tournament in the space of 64 games. The African soil was favourable for the Spanish national team as they emerged champions of the competition for the first time in their history.

The home of the 2014 World Cup winners are also among the nations that have the highest attendance of supporters that came to watch the games at the World Cup venue. Germany also holds the third highest of spectators that came to watch the games. The Italians were eventual winners of this edition beating France on penalties in the finals.
